Dear Friends,
May 2002
Our plans for the reunion are nearing completion and we write to update you on their progress. This is our third and last letter to be posted prior to the reunion which takes place on the 25th July 2002.
We have been greatly encouraged with the response and offers of help. Again our thanks go to David Kirk in Thailand for his help in tracing missing persons, and thanks to everyone who sent us addresses that were missing from our list, giving us the opportunity to get in contact. We are very grateful to Nevill Mangin for loaning all the past Dunrobin School Magazines and for the work that he did in comparing names and address to those on our list, with all those pupils mentioned in the magazines, giving us more than 70 names to add. (David Kirk, who was looking forward to retirement, now has a full time job for life.)
Thanks also go to Martin Teigland who has kindly offered to arrange a domain name which will link to his web site on Dunrobin, that he had set up some time ago and is worth seeing. This will now be the official site for Dunrobin School Association, and Martin has offered to look after the site on our behalf. For those of you that have access to the Web, the site address will be www.dunrobinschool.co.uk if you have any material that you would may wish to add to the site, please e-mail Martin, at martin@teigland.de
With the number of replies we have had and commitments in coming to the reunion, it looks at present, that it will be a big turn out. The Countess of Sutherland will be attending the Reunion Dinner and we look forward to meeting her again.
Please find enclosed the following:
· Dunrobin Events Itinerary, this gives a list of the events taking place throughout the reunion, giving dates, times, location, cost and a short description of each event.
· Events Booking Form, we have sent you two copies of this form, one for you to retain as a reminder and the other, we would be grateful, if you would mark in which events you wish to attend (Unlike rugger on the Ferguson field with a force 80 gale off the North Sea, in silly wee shorts during winter) they are not compulsory. However we do ask for payment ahead, for those that are marked on the form. Please make cheques payable to Dunrobin Association and enclose in the reply envelope provided, along with the booking form. A ticket of entry for that event will be sent to you as a receipt. We would be grateful if you can return the booking forms by the 18th July, giving time for the final arrangements to be made. We understand that through other commitments, not everyone will be able to attend all the three days of the reunion events. However we are confident, that if you are able to attend, even just for one of those days, you will be warmly welcomed and have a super time.
· Accommodation List, this list is provided to help in arranging accommodation throughout your stay. We suggest that you make arrangements well in advance. If you have any problems in arranging accommodation please contact John for help.
· We have enclosed a list of those that have no address on our database. Again, our objective in starting out was to contact as many "old boys" as we possibly could. We would be most grateful for any information in helping us achieve this task. Please contact Mike if you can help.
· Lastly, thanks to Nevill, who has granted permission to reproduce the complete set of the Dunrobin School Magazines, from the originals he has loaned us. We are able to offer copies of them for sale. If you would like copies of the school magazines please complete the form listed under the Events Booking Form. The payment covers the cost of reproduction only. For those attending the reunion, the magazines will be handed to you when you arrive. If you are unable to attend please add postage cost and Mike will send them to you. Again all payments made to Dunrobin Association please.
Well "without fear" of sounding over optimistic we look forward to seeing you all at the reunion.
Our best wishes from,
The Reunion Team.
